Schools

Our goal is to help people become more aware of the historical-naturalistic riches of the territory in which they live and to interact with this by placing their own psycho-physical well-being in the foreground. An action that we consider fundamental to pursue our aim is to address the new generations, trying to encourage the formation of their critical conscience through specific projects aimed at spreading knowledge of the environment that surrounds them.

As educational operators we develop projects on various themes for kindergartens, primary, first and second grade secondary schools, we deal with environmental education, orienteering activities and organize excursions of one or more days, also making use of the collaboration of travel.

Here are some of our proposals. Just a few examples, because we always like to talk to teachers to create the best educational solution for students.

The Via Francigena is part of a bundle of streets, also called via Romee (the name of the street was given based on the place of destination), which connected central Europe, and in this case France, to Rome. The first documents mentioning the existence of the Via Francigena date back to the 9th century, but a complete description can be found in 990 by Bishop Sigeric, who in his diary described in detail the 79 stages of his return journey from the pilgrimage from Rome to Canterbury (in all about 1800 km). Most of the stages indicated by Sigeric correspond to localities that still exist today and on the basis of his diary the “modern” Via Francigena was created. In Tuscany we have 14 stages, over 380 km, from the Cisa pass to Acquapendente, with different characteristics, distances and difficulties, all beautiful!

We organize excursions of one or more days also making use of a travel agency.

We will deepen the history of the ancient Via, of the small villages it crosses, of how man has shaped the territory making it famous all over the world, but we will also discover the reasons that led many travelers to attempt a journey that often did not see return….

The children will have the opportunity to discover the "slow" rhythms of an intimate journey, looking around but also "inside", they will learn to listen to their body, to share fatigue and happiness to reach a goal. They will also learn what is essential, because not everything can be carried around, and how walking is also an art that is learned and improved.

Of course, there are many other paths to get to know our territory…. just ask and we will look for the best solution.

Orienteering, literally the activity of orienting oneself, is neither a treasure hunt nor a survival course. It is a sport, born at the beginning of the twentieth century in the Scandinavian countries, which consists in reaching certain control points in the shortest possible time by choosing the best path. The identification of the control points and the choice of the best route must be made based on the reading of the map.

In recent years, orienteering has found ample space within the school. The MIUR already in the Circular n. 254 of 7/8/93 speaks of “orienteering, given the promotional and interdisciplinary character inherent in this discipline”, officially recognizing the didactic value of this activity in the school.

The recreational-sporting activity carried out as part of the orienteering project in schools has strong interdisciplinary characteristics; specifically, it involves numerous disciplines: history, geography, mathematics, science, technique, art and image, sports and motor sciences, education for the environment, affectivity, health, legality, citizenship, road.

The educational value on personality (autonomy, self-esteem), on socialization (comparison and respect for the rules) and on cooperation (solidarity) should also not be underestimated.

With orienteering, children will learn to move consciously on any terrain, even unknown, with the only help of a card that faithfully represents it. They will be provided with all the elements to read a card, matching the real elements with their own representation. They will thus acquire self-confidence, but will also have the opportunity to understand the importance of the group, making themselves available to others, to achieve the set goals.

All activities are organized and carried out by one or more of our first level federal technicians FISO (Italian Federation of Orientation Sports).

All the activities are aimed at any kind of school, kindergarten, primary, first and second grade secondary school.

As reported by "The Guidelines for Environmental Education for Sustainable Development 2014 - MIUR", education for sustainable development today becomes a strategic objective for the present and the future of our country.

The environmental challenge, linked to the conservation of our planet's resources, represents a challenge that cannot be avoided for future generations.

We are in an era that imposes on the whole world, but in particular on Italy and Europe, choices radically different from those made in the past: far from the traditional production model, directed towards a new economic model that respects the environment. , oriented towards a society that does not produce waste but knows how to create wealth and well-being with the reuse and regeneration of resources.

For this to happen, a profound change of mentality is necessary, involving institutions, companies and individuals.

And this new national awareness can only start with schools and students, of all ages. Especially from the youngest, those we could call "environmental natives": a generation that in everyday behavior already finds respect for the environment in which it lives as a natural perspective.

Our Environmental Education project aims to lead students to acquire full awareness of their role in the environment, starting from the knowledge of their territory and of the problems related to its unsustainable use (management of natural resources, pollution, production waste, alteration of ecosystems ...).

We believe it is essential that, from an early age, pupils gradually learn to know and deal with the main problems connected with the use of the territory and are aware of their active role in safeguarding the natural environment for future generations.

The participation of the pupils in this educational project will increase their knowledge, skills and competences, with the ultimate aim of creating aware and responsible citizens towards the protection of the natural environment.

Our proposal will be elaborated on the basis of the instructions of the teachers to highlight those themes that they consider most relevant to the study plan.

The project hurts the ethical contents of Environmental Education, not reduced to a simple study of the natural environment, but as an action that promotes changes in attitudes and behaviors both on an individual and collective level. Concepts and knowledge are not notions for their own sake and the choice of methods and tools aims to promote intentional processes of change through action.

From this they achieve the following purposes:

- observe the local environment to grasp its characteristics and elements of vulnerability;

- motivate pupils to behave like citizens who respect their environment;

- foster the growth of an ecological mentality;

- become aware that man's future lies in safeguarding the environment;

- educate to complexity.
