Unpublished route of the Via Francigena which will see the departure from the chapel of San Genesio (San Miniato), to arrive at the Pieve di Coiano.

From here there will be a meeting with the groups that come from Castelfiorentino and Montaione and then continue together, for those who wish, up to Castelnuovo d'Elsa and attend the party.

The village of San Genesio, formerly known as Vicus Wallari, represented a crucial road junction. Around the year 1000 it experienced moments of true glory thanks to its position at the crossroads between the Via Pisana and the Via Francigena. Sigeric himself stopped there on his return journey from Rome to Canterbury between 990 and 994. But the stories to be told along the way will be many, such as that of Pinocchio, Napoleon ...... also throughout the journey we will be cheered by characters from another time ….. curious?

for hikers E (route in line; length about 11.50 km; positive difference in altitude about 370 meters; negative difference in altitude about 230 meters).

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, car sharing is NOT provided and is not recommended between participants who do not cohabit with the activity.
A shuttle service is available between Castelnuovo d'Elsa and Castelfiorentino.

Excursion with environmental hiking guide authorized pursuant to LR 86/2016 and subsequent amendments.
The Guides are in possession of the RCT insurance required by law. Participants in the excursions are NOT covered by personal accident insurance.

Trekking shoes or shoes with sculpted sole, backpack, water at least 1 liter, hat, any rain gear (waterproof jacket, backpack cover).

Recommended equipment:
Trekking poles, sunscreen and camera.
